SLAM! Wrestling: Brian Pillman

Pillman DVD flies above the rest

By BOB KAPUR -- SLAM! Wrestling
Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon may be the best biography DVD that WWE has put out. Honestly, I thought it was more like an A&E Biography episode, as many of Pillman's friends and family were brought in to talk about his life, as opposed to just current WWE stars as is often the case.
Let's have a look at what is included

Pillman CD keeps his voice alive

By CHRIS SCHRAMM -- SLAM! Wrestling
"Five or six years from now, I'll look back and see it was just a blip on the radar screen."
Sadly, we would never see if his statement would be true as the quote was pulled from a Brian Pillman appearance on Wrestle Radio U.S.A. radio show in May of 1996.

Backstage at the Pillman Memorial Show

By STEVE HOOPER -- For SLAM! Wrestling
I was privileged enough to be part of the Pillman 2001 Memorial Show in Cincinnati Ohio, and thought I might share some thoughts with you all regarding this fantastic event. This year marks the second time I have worked this great show. For those that don't know me, I have been a ref in pro-wrestling for the past 10 years and have been lucky enough to work all over Canada and the U.S. I originally started with a promotion in Vancouver, now known as ECCW, and most recently I have been with Stampede Wrestling in Calgary for the past 3 1/2 years.
Stampede Wrestling is a promotion chock full of amazing wrestling and with a long, storied history behind it. Many greats have either started their illustrious careers in the business or have toured with the promotion in Calgary over the years. Stu Hart began promoting in Alberta in 1948, and the list of greats that have come and gone would fill up an entire article in itself. It's been an honour to represent this company and the Hart family over the years, and it was a great pleasure to do so again at Pillman 2001. Stampede veteran Richard 'Principal' Pound was also there.

    The business killed Brian Pillman

By BRET "THE HIT MAN" HART -- For the Calgary Sun
A lot of guys live for this bizarre business.
That might not be their intention, but they fall in love with her and by the time love turns to a familiar seductress, they're addicted. Addicted to the action and the admiration.
Accustomed to a lifestyle where the miles behind you in the morning deceive you into thinking you're unaccountable for what you did last night.
There's no off-season, no time out, valor gets attached to martyrdom.
You look for ways to endure the physical pain of a broken body and hope you don't become so numb that you end up with a broken spirit. In the ring, you're a superhero and you search down deep inside to make that strength real. It's dangerous to forget that even Superman had his kryptonite.
