Hamilton 2003 Road World Cycling Championships schedule - Friday, October 10
Today is the first day for the road races at the 2003 Road World Cycling Championships. The first two races will involve the Junior Women (18 and under) and the Espoir Men (19 to 22).
Yesterday 16,000 fans watched the Elite Men time trials along the race course. After three days of racing 35,000 fans have attended the Road World Championships in Hamilton.
RACE SCHEDULE
Sum Both races will utilize the Road Race Course - 12.4 km
Sum In the Road Race, the riders start as one group with the first rider crossing the finish line being declared the winner
Sum 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Junior Women Road Race - 6 laps for a total race distance of 76.4 km
Canadians Participating - Canadian RR Champion Audrey Lemieux (Alma, QC), Emilie Roy (St. Cuthbert, QC), Emily Sandwith (Victoria, B.C.) and Anna Tratnyek (New Hamburg, ON)
Sum 12:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. - Espoir Men Road Race - 14 laps for a total race distance of 173.6 km
Canadians Participating - Canadian RR Champion Martin Gilbert (Chateauguay, QC), Murray Carter (Winnipeg, MB), Chris Issac (Newmarket, ON), Cory Jay (Charlottetown, PEI) and Jean-Sebastien Maheu (Montreal, QC)

Sum Tickets for today's races for the Gold Grandstand at the Start / Finish Line are available at the Copps Coliseum Box Office and for the Silver Standing area on the Claremont Access at the bottom and top of the Access, and for Beckett Drive at the bottom and top of the hill.
