In addition to the street segments listed in the above chart any and all city roads that intersect with the race course shall be temporarily closed for a distance of one-block back from the race course in keeping with the road closure schedule. Local access will still be permitted.

Main Street between James and Bay Streets will be closed 24 hrs/day from Saturday, October 4 to Sunday, October 12, 2003.


Street Conversions

The Hamilton 2003 Road World Cycling Championships will require some traffic detours through the downtown core. Eastbound traffic will be diverted off Main Street at both Dundurn and Locke Streets. Traffic will be sent north to York Boulevard/Wilson Street. Westbound traffic through the downtown core on the following streets will be converted:

Locke Street - converted to one way northbound traffic from King Street to York Boulevard

Queen Street - converted to two-way traffic from King Street to York Boulevard

Queen Street - converted to one lane northbound traffic between King and Main Streets

Victoria Avenue - converted to two-way traffic from King Street to Wilson Street

Victoria Avenue - between King and Main Streets will be closed

John Street - converted to two-way traffic from the north leg of King Street to Charlton Avenue

John Street - will be two lanes northbound only from Charlton Avenue to St. Joseph's Drive


Mountain Access Closures

Please note that the following Mountain accesses will be closed during road closure times:

Queen Street access (Beckett Drive)

West 5th Access (James Mountain Road)

Jolley Cut - Emergency vehicles and HSR busses only

Claremont access (will be open only on Tuesday, October 7 to accommodate the Short Time Trial Route.)

The Sherman and Kenilworth Accesses will be open to people traveling up and down the Mountain.

Note:
1. Traffic on Sherman access will operate as usual,
Morning rush hour: Downbound only
Evening rush hour: Upbound Only
Two-way traffic at all other times.

2. Flock Rd. (the link between Sherman and Kenilworth accesses will also be closed during road closures)
